Family Ministry

Engaging Children. Equipping Families

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and will all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give to you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Deuteronomy 6:4-7

Early Childhood | Babies - PreK

We believe that young children deserve a unique ministry tailored to meet their special developmental needs. Early Childhood programming is offered during both the 9:00 & 10:30a services. We are ready to accept children at 8:45a and they can stay through both hours so that you can attend service, a Sunday Morning group or serve in an area of ministry.

  • Nursery & Tots | 6 weeks - Potty Trained

We provide more than just childcare. We offer a loving, caring, safe environment for your children. Each week we will listen to music and read Bible stories. Once your child is potty trained, let the Nursery/Tots staff know and they will make arrangements for your child to be promoted to the Kitty Room.

  • Wee Worship & Wee Grow | Age 3 - PreK

Wee Worship - This is offered at the 9:00a service and brings preschoolers (potty trained - PreK) together as one group - 'Children's Church.' We offer a lesson, Bible verse, song and center time.

Wee Grow - This is offered at the 10:30a sesrvice and puts the kids in their age appropriate class rooms. During this 'Sunday School hour,' the kids get a lesson told in a way that they can understand according to their age, crafts, snack, center time and music.

We have found that the kids really get a lot out of both Wee Worship & Wee Grow. By teaching in this we are are hoping to reach kids using methods that help them learn best.

Children's Ministry | Grades K-6

What do a magnifying glass, baking soda & vinegar and a peacock feather have to do with Jesus? ALiVE! Small groups and worship time uses interactive Bible teaching along with skits, music and other object lessons to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. The magnifying glass helps us to discover how each of us is made unique and 1-of-a-kind in Christ's image. The kids see how the Holy Spirit (baking soda) can fill them (vinegar) with Christ's love overflowing to others when they allow the Spirit to come into their lives. Balancing a peacock feather in your hand when looking down is just about as hard as trying to balance life when only looking at ourselves. But when you look up and focus on the top of the peacock feather, you can keep it from falling just like we look up to God, He gives us all we need to live a balanced and joyful life.

Engage Teens | Grades 7-12

There was a young boy named Tommy. He grew up being taken to church with his parents, where he learned about God and His love for him. He was taught Scripture. He watched how his parents and other people that went to church followed Jesus, even when it was difficult. He was directed onto the right path. There came a time when Tommy had to decide for himself, not because his parents or friends desiring him to, but for himself, that he wanted to follow Jesus.

There comes a time when every individual needs to choose on his or her own to follow Jesus. At First Christian,
we want to partner with parents to help direct young people, like Tommy,  so that when they are older, they will continue
to walk with Jesus on the right path. The goal for Engage Teens is for Middle & High School students to
Experience Jesus and to Extend the Message of Truth to others.
