December 1 - Online Services & God's Blessings
Christy Farrell, Director of Communications
Did anyone think that we would be having online-only services in December when all this started back in March? I for one did not! When all this first happened, staying at home and worshipping in my pajamas was not all bad. I did not have to get up as early, I didn't need to do my hair or put on make-up, and things were pretty relaxed. But that novelty wore off a long time ago! I miss seeing you, I miss hearing conversations in the halls, I miss hearing you singing praises, I miss being able to gather together (in person) as a family of Christ-followers.
With things being canceled, changed, or limited there are so many things to be upset or disappointed about. But God is still here and He is still giving us hope. Take a minute and think about where you are seeing God at work every day and the ways you have seen Him that has really blessed you in 2020. In the past few weeks, I have been pretty low and God really showed up to let me know that He is still in control and that I don't need to worry about things. (if you know me you know that I am still going to worry but maybe a lot less). During Operation Christmas Child collection week God blessed me in a couple of different ways and I think it will bless you as well.
St. Peter's 6th & 7th graders brought 860 shoeboxes over, the families that came to help put all those boxes in cartons, and the group that helped load the trailer on Sunday. God knew exactly what I needed at the exact right times! Please share how God has blessed you in 2020- I would love to be able to share your stories with others! Email your stories here.
We are actively working on ways that we can meet and celebrate together! Please join us online at 10:00a Sundays and we will all worship together virtually! (join here, Facebook, or YouTube) Even though we are not meeting in person it is important for all of us to connect. Why not host a watch party with your family or small group? Engage with each other in the Facebook comments during the service. Fill out your connection card and let us know you are watching and give us your prayer requests. We care about you all and want to stay connected with everyone. As Steve mentioned in his update last week – those that have stayed engaged in online worship have lower anxiety and stress levels than those who have stopped worshipping.
Mark your calendars! December 13 - Christmas in the Courtyard from 4-6p, December 24 -Christmas Eve in the Courtyard (additional details coming.) Be on the lookout for details about a children's opportunity. As a reminder small groups CAN meet at the church, FCC Teens are meeting Sunday evenings, and the building is open. We are asking that you wear your mask anytime that you are in the building, use hand sanitizer as you enter, and social distance (Apart by 6 feet or more). Be sure that you are checking our website and social media (Facebook or Instagram) for any changes to activities that are planned. Please continue to pray with us for an end to the pandemic and for the health & safety of everyone.
Start a new (or continue) Christmas tradition with this Month of Giving idea.
